Chapter 2128: Chapter 2129: The Turn of the Relationship
By the time Lin Yi left the hotel, it was already past two in the afternoon. He then drove to the airport.
After disembarking from the plane, Qin Han and his two companions had been waiting outside the terminal for quite some time.
“You’ve been all absent-minded and darting in and out all day,” Qin Han complained. “We can’t even gather everyone for drinks.”
“The situation in Yanjing is complicated,” Lin Yi said with a laugh. “I reckon I won’t have much to deal with there from now on.”
“Let’s go; it’s about time. After all, we have elders at home, and we shouldn’t be late.”
The four of them got into the car and headed for Ji Qingyan’s house.
On the way, Lin Yi received a message from Qiu Yuluo updating him on Samsung’s internal situation.
The death of Lee Yongjin had been announced. The actual helmsman of Samsung, upon learning of his son’s situation, suffered a relapse of his old illness and was no longer able to lead Samsung. In terms of business, his eldest daughter Lee Yongjin would be in full charge.
Seeing such news, Lin Yi touched his chin thoughtfully.
Lee Yongjin’s capabilities were indeed commendable; she had seamlessly linked these two events.
This way, no one would suspect that her father had been murdered.
After about forty minutes’ drive, the group of four arrived at Ji Qingyan’s house.
Seeing Lin Yi, Ji Antai and Song Lan came out to greet them.
“Come on in, come on in. The food is all ready.”
“Then we won’t be shy.”
Qin Han and the others replied cheerily, clearly not considering themselves outsiders.
Inside the house, Ji Qingyan and He Yuanyuan were sitting on the sofa. Seeing that everyone had arrived, they joined the group at the dining table, ready for dinner.
The meal was harmonious, but perceptive people could still detect some tension between Lin Yi and Ji Qingyan.
To give the young people some space for conversation, the older couple went for a walk after dinner.
But before leaving, they reminded everyone not to rush off, as they were all staying over that night.
However, Qin Han and the others understood that this was intended for Lin Yi, as they didn’t want him to leave.
After the elders departed, the dinner party split into two groups.
Ji Qingyan and He Yuanyuan returned to the sofa to whisper and browse the news, passing the time.
Meanwhile, Lin Yi and his three companions were at the dining table, toasting and drinking with no sign of stopping any time soon.
“What? Lee Yongjin is dead!” He Yuanyuan exclaimed in shock.
“Is it true?”
Everyone present was surprised to hear this news.
Prior to this, through He Yuanyuan, Qin Han and the others had learned about the situation at that banquet.
Lin Yi had attacked Lee Yongjin of Samsung, but they hadn’t expected things to turn out this way.
“How did he die?” Gao Zongyuan asked, “I saw the news earlier; they said the situation had stabilized, how could he die now?”
“They said it was a severe reaction to medication that caused it.”
Subconsciously, everyone’s gaze drifted towards Lin Yi.
The deceased was the first in line to inherit Samsung’s Lee family; no one would believe that the cause of death was related to a medication error.
“Why are you all looking at me?” Lin Yi said, grinning, “Am I such a ruthless person?”
“You dared to stab Lee Yongjin; what else couldn’t you do?”
“Could it really be you…” Ji Qingyan asked with a troubled expression.
She had always been a rule-follower since childhood; fighting was within her tolerance, but murder was something she couldn’t face calmly.
What’s more, the victim had a very extraordinary identity.
If not handled properly, it could cause a major uproar.
“Whatever has happened, it doesn’t matter whether I did it or not,” Lin Yi said.
Everyone present was smart; they knew Lin Yi’s statement virtually confirmed his involvement.
“But it was Lee Yongjin!”
Ji Qingyan said, agitated, “I’m going to call Lee Yongjin.”
“There’s no need for that. We’ve met before,” Lin Yi spoke up.
“All the aftermath has been arranged.”
“Arranged?”
“The real person in control of the Li family now is Lee Yongjin. I’m the one who pushed her into this position; otherwise, she would’ve never had the chance,” Lin Yi explained.
“No matter how extraordinary Lee Yongjin’s identity is, this is an internal matter for the Li family. If they don’t pursue it, I’m in the clear. Besides, I didn’t leave any clues behind; who can prove it was me?”
“Lin Bro, that’s ruthless of you,” Liang Jinming said while holding a cigarette, giving a thumbs-up.
“Just because he touched President Ji’s hand, you took him out.”
“Keeping him alive is just a waste of air; better dead to leave room for the good guys.”
Ji Qingyan looked distressed; she wanted to say something but in the end, kept quiet.
It was late, past ten, when Qin Han gave the rest a meaningful glance. Understanding the signal, they tidied up a bit and prepared to leave.
Because of Ji Antai and Song Lan, Lin Yi was made to stay.
Inside Ji Qingyan’s room, several types of cut fruit were laid out, but neither of them had the appetite to touch them.
“How are your injuries?”
“They’re healing up fine.” Lin Yi patted his stomach to show he was telling the truth.
“Take off your clothes; let me see.”
“That’s a bit awkward, to be honest.”
“Cut the crap.”
“Er…”
Seeing Ji Qingyan’s stern face, Lin Yi pursed his lips and then began to remove his clothing.
“Why are you all bruised up?”
“I got into a fight.”
Although Gill was no match for Lin Yi, he was still a B-level fighter and had left some marks on Lin Yi’s body.
“Can’t you leave that place? Are you short on money? What’s the point of staying there!” Ji Qingyan said unhappily.
“This isn’t something that can be explained in a word or two, and it’s not as simple as you think,” Lin Yi said.
“It’s more complicated than you can imagine.”
“I don’t want to hear other reasons; I’m just asking if you can leave that place!”
After a long silence, Lin Yi took a deep breath and answered,
“I can’t. This concerns the peace and stability of China. Since I’m here, it’s impossible for me to leave.”
“Look at yourself, what have you turned into!”
Ji Qingyan pointed to Lin Yi’s battered body and said,
“Would you be content to die out there?”
“These experiences are inevitable; no one can avoid them forever. The world is balanced. If you want to go further, you have to pay a higher price.”
“Fine, you don’t want to retire, I won’t force you!” Ji Qingyan spoke,
“I’m done talking about this. If you can leave that place and live a peaceful life in Zhong Hai, I will forgive you!”
“Huh? What did you say? Just leave and you’ll forgive me?”
“It’s your choice to make!”
“Do I even need to choose? I’ll retire right now!”
With that, Lin Yi dialed Liu Hong’s number.
“No need to contact me anymore. I plan to resign and go back to farming.”
